Prayer for Our Nation
Nine hundred and twenty (920) days remain in the Obama administration.
Obama’s “Dream Act”: An Invitation to a Crisis
The DREAM Act was an acronym for legislation entitled Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors. The legislation was introduced in 2009 and passage was attempted yearly through 2012.
Following these failed attempts President Obama on June 15, 2012 sent a memo to Janet Napolitano who was then Secretary of Homeland Security to implement the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. This new “Dream Act” gave special privileges and assurances to persons between the ages of 15 years and 30. Persons in the age group who were here illegally would not be deported and would be allowed employment legally.
There were an estimated 1.9 million persons in that age range in the country illegally. Of that number a much smaller group were expected to meet the residential and educational requirements, approximately 423,000. The program as established by the administration is in fact a renewable amnesty program. The message was clear: if you can get to the United States, deportation is unlikely. The current crisis on our border is the result.
