Officials Strongly Condemn Murder Of Arab Teenager By Jews

Israelis were shocked and dismayed on Sunday to learn that six young Jews had been arrested for the murder of Palestinian teen Muhammad Abu Khdeir, with one of the six confessing to the crime. Sources close to the investigation leaked details to the press, including that the six suspects included “young men and minors” from Beit Shemesh and Adam, a West Bank settlement. “The State of Israel is a country that abides by, and enforces, the law, and will continue to take determined action against all those who violate the law,” said a statement from Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch. “This was a shocking and unacceptable act which any sane person, certainly in a strong and democratic country such as the State of Israel, must strongly condemn.” His condemnations and appeals for calm were echoed by several other officials, even as riots occurred in several Arab villages in northern Israel and neighborhoods of eastern Jerusalem.Read More
