UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon visited Israel on Tuesday in an effort to advance a cease-fire between Israel and the terrorist organizations it’s battling in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, while US Secretary of State John Kerry met separately with officials from Israel, Hamas and the Palestinian Authority in Cairo. For his part, Ban appeared at a joint press conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and unequivocally condemned Hamas’ firing of rockets at Israeli civilians and using Palestinian civilians as human shields.
