A steady barrage of rockets and mortars continued to be fired from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip into Israel over the weekend and continued on Monday morning as efforts in Cairo aimed at reaching an agreement for a long-term truce offered some hope for a conclusion to nearly two months of violence.
