We praise God for the rains in New Mexico and we pray for rains across all of the westerns states of America! In Jesus name, Amen!
Santa Fe – New Mexico State Forestry has dispatched firefighters and additional resources to assist with suppression efforts on numerous fires throughout the western United States.
Approximately 96 firefighters and other resources including two strike teams of engines and a 20-person hand crew from the Division’s Returning Heroes Fire Crew Program have been assigned to fires in California, Oregon, Utah, Nevada and Washington.
“Even though New Mexico’s fire season was relatively brief and not as severe as in years past, many other areas in the Western United States are seeing an increase in fire danger,” said State Forestry Resource Protection Bureau Chief Donald Griego. “By being able to take assignments in other states when they are needed, our resources receive great experience that will help them better protect communities and natural resources here in New Mexico.”
Earlier during the 2014 fire season, New Mexico State Forestry dispatched two Returning Heroes crews and numerous other resources to other fires in and around New Mexico.
