Security forces in central Israel were on high alert Tuesday following a general warning of an increased risk of terrorist infiltrations from the West Bank. Late Tuesday afternoon a suspect was arrested in Taibe and the alert was lifted, but it follows attacks on two buses traveling through the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem on Monday. Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon issued a statement Monday condemning Israel for its announced nationalization of nearly 1,000 acres of land in the vicinity of Bethlehem and the Gush Etzion settlement block in northern Judea. “The seizure of such a large swath of land risks paving the way for further settlement activity, which – as the United Nations has reiterated on many occasions – is illegal under international law and runs totally counter to the pursuit of a two-state solution,” said the statement..Read More
