Israel Warily Watching Islamic State Terror Militia

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting of senior officials Wednesday to discuss the threat to the Jewish State from the Islamic State (IS, formally ISIS) terror militia. The meeting touched on the prospect of sympathizers for IS appearing among Israel’s Arab population, even amidst reports of IS activity near Israel’s borders. On Wednesday, a beheaded body was discovered in the Sinai Peninsula to Israel’s southwest, bearing a note claiming to be from Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis, a group affiliated with IS. The note accused the murder victim of being a spy for Israel and bore the inscription; “This is the fate of all who prove to be traitors to their homeland.” It was the latest in a string of increasingly brutal murders carried out in the Sinai by groups claiming to be affiliated with IS.
