technology-and-human-communication1The influence of entertainment media over a group of people is significant enough to demand Christian involvement in its development and use to encourage and shape culture for the betterment of society and the spreading of the Good news of Christ Jesus. Throughout time, since creation, people have developed and used different forms of media to convey human thought, to exchange information, and have a level of influence over other souled beings.

As Christians, we should be the most open to new advances in technology, but with fallen human nature, there has been born a fear of the unknown. In this fallen world we should expect that even the best things can be used for the worst of things, but that doesn’t mean that we should shun or fear new inventions and advancement in technology. We should as Christians be the first to grasp and utilize the new; to shape it and direct it for the benefit of our neighbors. New inventions will not change our fallen nature, we cannot as a race become even more fallen than we are, and evil is here and will be here till the Lords coming. Trying to stop advancement will only hold back our potential to reach and save lost souls. Our ability to send emotional, intellectual, visual pull across seas is a gift. As my Pastor Mercy Alarid has said, “Music is like money – neutral until we choose how to use it.”

That also applies to other forms of media and technological development. The advancement of understanding was from the beginning good. It cannot be disregarded, but God who is outside of time, who created the human mind and the physical world, knew the potential scientific advancements that could be made by His creation. Exploration, discovery, creativity, it is all a blessing, but we cannot stop there. After each discovery and technological development then comes the responsibility to bend it under God’s will.
