Orthodox and Catholic Leaders hold Conference in Jordan

The Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church wrapped up in Amman, Jordan on Tuesday. Greek Orthodox leader, Theophilos III, who holds the title of “patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine” told The Jordan Timesthat religious extremism is best dealt with through diplomacy, in an apparent critique of US-led military strikes on the Islamic State (IS, formally ISIS) terror militia. “There are ways to deal with such [illogical] phenomena, and applying escalatory practices is not one of them,” he said. “We want to pass a message to Christians in the region and the Middle East that they are not alone in their current agony, and that as Christians we are together, and the doctrine differences do not reduce or lessen the Christian unity and oneness.”Read More
