Here’s the rest of the story of the beheading in Oklahoma from FGGAM Friend Larimer County Colorado Sheriff Justin Smith:
The rest of the story in Oklahoma: Millions of Americans were angered and repulsed at the news of the workplace beheading that occurred in Oklahoma yesterday. Reports indicate that the killer was seeking retribution against a coworker who refused to convert to Islam. This tragedy should be a wake up call – a shocking reminder that the line between international terrorism and horrific violence in our heartland is a very thin line.
The interesting part of this story that has not been widely reported is how this killer was stopped. In my research, I learned that it was a reserve deputy who was also the chief operating officer at Vaughan Foods who confronted and shot the suspect.
At the LCSO, we have over 50 reserve and posse deputies, who augment our staff of full time, paid deputies. These reserve and posse deputies serve with no compensation, but are ready at a moment’s notice to answer the call.
I want to take a moment to commend the reserve deputy in Moore, Oklahoma, the reserve and posse deputies with the LCSO and all the reserve officers throughout our country who serve their communities selflessly each and every day. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their commitment and sacrifice.
