The US announced on Tuesday that it is sending another 350 troops to Iraq to protect the American Embassy in Baghdad, raising the level of US troops in the country to 1,000 as US aircraft continue to pound Islamic State (IS, formally ISIS) terror militia formations in the north of the country. The announcement came as IS posted a video to the internet on Tuesday apparently showing the beheading of Steven Joel Sotloff. In the video, his executioner, who appears to be the same man who beheaded journalist James Foley late last month, tells US President Barak Obama that the execution is in retaliation for the American air campaign against IS in Iraq.
