Sonja Haldeman sent me this quote from Arizona Health and Living magazine:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me Philippians 4:13…..The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called failure, a loop called confusion, speed bumps called friends, red lights called enemies, caution lights called family. You will have flats called jobs. But, if you have a spare called determination, an engine called perseverance, insurance called faith and a driver named Jesus—you will make it to a place called success.” Author unknown
For with God nothing will be impossible. Luke 1:37
WOW! Dynamite Sonja! Thanks for sharing!!!! I want that magazine! LOL!
I travel a lot in the city ……….I notice a lot of road rage. Yesterday when I was driving a big pick-up truck roared by me and blew a red light, it was such a nice day, had the windows down, had Buffy and Reno with me. This was by LBJ Middle School on the west side of Albuquerque. A driver stopped beside me at the red light also had his windows down, and he said “What is up with people?” Yes what is up with this road rage and men in big trucks that roar? I know some need big trucks to do their work, I am not talking about these hard working men, but some men seem to use them to “show off” They are putting other drivers and pedestrians in danger. Just today I had a truck speed by me going at least 55 in a 45 and I called the business that it belonged to, letting them know they need to tell their driver to slow down. It is not right to break the law, speeding is a sin. These motorcycles that race around the city and go 80 on city streets is a crime. These trucks and motorcycles that make such loud noise, a roar, are disturbing the peace. The decibels are off the scale of common sense. They are a public hazard. We have a truck that drives by our house every morning around six, I am up by then, but he roars by……why? Why do men have these roaring trucks and these young men these loud and fast motorcycles? I believe they are looking to control something in their life. Many want to be noticed. We called them “show off’s” in my younger days, I don;t know what modern society calls them. Why do they need a loud big truck? Why do they need a speeding and loud motorcycle? It seems some of these motorcyclists have a “death wish”. We live on a side street, 30 mph, but some of these folks go by 50 to 60. When I look at American society, I look at it as to the why’s of the problem. You might say I am going overboard here, but I will disagree with you of course. First of all speed limits must be observed, it is not Christ like to speed. It is not Christ like to disturb the peace with loud engines, speeding engines, loud radio’s and stereo’s blaring away from cars and trucks. This is a behavioral issue. We must always be considerate of others. It seems to me here in America, that one of the principles of life, being considerate of others, putting others before ourselves is being lost. Do you know what your children are blaring away in their cars? Some of that stuff is satanic. Sometimes when a young driver pulls up beside me with the windows down and their stereo is blasting away, I just pray about what I am hearing and that they be delivered from that mind set. You see these things do matter to Jesus Christ, all things matter to Jesus Christ.
Let us be Christ like in everything we do and say.
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
This CUP was prompted by this from Pamela Martinez of Albuquerque who is the daughter of Pastor Jim Montoya. Pamela posted this on her Facebook and I asked her if I could post it to tie in with this CUP! READ THIS!
Someone tried to hit me with their truck, ON PURPOSE, while I was on my morning run!! I was trying to cross the road, waited for 2 cars to turn. I made sure the guy in the next truck saw me, then began to cross. As I was crossing, he jolted forward quickly just enough to miss me but scare me! The nerve of some people!!
Pam said the man just stared her down.
In all things we must follow the 10 Commandments and Biblical principles!
We keep swaying away……and away………and away from God.
Some will say, “Dewey you are silly, or you are so fundamental, you are to strict” Say what you may…..but I stand with God on behavioral issues.
God teaches us how to live right:
Titus 2:11-12: “God has shown us how kind he is by coming to save all people. He taught us to give up our wicked ways and our worldly desires and to live decent and honest lives in this world.”
The Holy Spirit, our Comforter, helps us to behave:
Galatians 5:22-23: “God’s Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways.”
We invite lots of problems into our lives if we can’t control ourselves:
Proverbs 25:28: “Losing self-control leaves you as helpless as a city without a wall.”
Sometimes it is hard to do right, but God promises to help us in those times:
1 Corinthians 10:13: “You are tempted in the same way that everyone else is tempted. But God can be trusted not to let you be tempted too much, and he will show you how to escape from your temptations.”
