monkey 2Good news for your Thursday! Here’s a setback for the Freethinkers of the Day! Freethinkers suffer major setback in its legal battle with Fargo over Ten Commandments monument | Grand Forks Herald  grandforksherald.com/content/freeth… Do you have the Ten Commandments posted in your home? place of work? in your Church? I am shocked at how many Churches do not post the Ten Commandments. I have them posted right where I am writing this story! In my office! Why are so many Christians not displaying the Ten Commandments and why is the Church not posting them? Are we not following them? Are we afraid to post them, that they will turn off this secular society and not join our Church?  What a world it would be if JUST CHRISTIANS would follow the Ten Commandments! Amen!

Don’t be a monkey! Don’t be a part of the world circus,  follow the Ten Commandments and post them everywhere!

When I attended Sunday school the Ten Commandments were “pounded” into me! LOL! LOL! And I say that thankfully, they become part of my life, my heart, mind and soul. My Uncle Joe always said, “What a world we would live in if people just TRIED to follow the Ten Commandments.”

I asked Pastor Steve Hickey of the Church at the Gate in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to comment on the Church and the Ten Commandments:
I’ve always thought it curious that Christians will have a fit about removing
the Ten Commandments from our courthouse walls when, truth be told, they
probably aren’t even hanging on our church walls and certainly not in our homes.
Perhaps a few times a year a Sunday school teacher puts them on the whiteboard.
A few decades ago churches opted aesthetically for a contemporary feel- our new
buildings feel and look more like corporate or healthcare facilities and down
came things like crosses and commandments, banners and Bible verses. These are
days to paint our walls with praise and lift high the banner of righteousness.

Pastor Steve is also a Legislator in South Dakota, a bold man for Jesus Christ! A bold man that addresses issues that need to be!  I will always be indebted to Paul Dokken for introducing me to Pastor Steve. Tonight the Church at the Gate celebrates 20 years with a big celebration! For God’s Glory Alone! One of my prayers is that one day soon me and Sharon get to go to Sioux Falls to visit Paul and Rene Dokken and go hear Pastor Steve Preach! Amen! Will you pray over that?

I also want to mention that a must read book is, and I have suggested this many times, “Obtainable Expectations” A timely exposition of The Sermon On The Mount by Pastor Steve.

One other thing I will say, I love going to the Reserve, New Mexico Baptist Church as it still has the original stained glass windows and bell, with rope to pull on……….it looks and feels like a Holy Spirit filled Church. I really believe Pastor Steve has a point we need to pay attention to is that so many of our Churches have gone to far in the contemporary feel, looking more like a University, a corporate headquarters or a healthcare facility! In some Churches it”s hard to find a Cross!!!!!!!! What’s up with that? Yes I am an old fuddy duddy! LOL! There are many, many modern looking Churches that are Holy Spirit filled, but are we going to far to reflect modern day society? I was reading the other day about one of the biggest Churches in America and the reporter was saying there was hardly anything in the Church that would identify it as a Church, like a cross or anything else!!!!!! WOW!

I believe with all my heart if we taught the Bible in our homes and Churches and the Ten Commandments in our homes and Churches we could turn this country around!

Instead of pointing our finger at someone else for the blame of the down fall of America, let’s look in the mirror.

Exodus 20 New International Version (NIV)

The Ten Commandments
20 And God spoke all these words:

2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

3 “You shall have no other gods before[a] me.

4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

8 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

13 “You shall not murder.

14 “You shall not commit adultery.

15 “You shall not steal.

16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

18 When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance 19 and said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die.”

20 Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”

21 The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.

Idols and Altars
22 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites this: ‘You have seen for yourselves that I have spoken to you from heaven: 23 Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.

24 “‘Make an altar of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you. 25 If you make an altar of stones for me, do not build it with dressed stones, for you will defile it if you use a tool on it. 26 And do not go up to my altar on steps, or your private parts may be exposed.’
