A heavy downpour of rain and a massive police presence throughout Jerusalem were helping residents to breathe a little easier Friday following calls by Palestinian terrorist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad for stepped up violence against Jews in the capital and the slightly less ominous demand by the Western-backed Palestinian Authority for a “day of rage” in response to the closure of the Temple Mount by Israel Thursday afternoon. Police said the Temple Mount would be open to Moslem men over the age of 50 and women of all ages on Friday following intense pressure on Israel from Washington and several other world governments who dismissed Israeli arguments about the potential security problem.
