“If God Made a Rope”A poem by Brad McClain

If God made a rope to catch me and you,
I think He’d be careful with what He would use.

The strands would be sturdy, with hope woven in,
‘Cause without it there’s nothing, nowhere to begin.

Yessir, hope would be there, used as a start,
For getting a lariat to capture our heart.

Though hope gets us started, it’s not really sure,
Of the thing that is promised, but when it endures,

The truth transforms hope to something that’s certain,
It becomes faith, which opens the curtain.

Yes, the rope needs faith, because it’s a key,
For pleasing the Savior, for blind eyes to see,

All that God shows us, and wants us to know,
Faith wraps the hope strands, with assurance that grows.

But the rope isn’t finished with just these two things,
There’s one something more, that gives it its wings.

And that is the strand of God’s holy love,
Manifested in Jesus, and sent from above.

Without love the rope would be much too weak,
To catch all the strays with a strong stubborn streak.

Yes, the strength that love adds to the rope that God makes,
Is the thing that pursues us, whatever it takes.

And when the rope finally settles, and gets hold of our hearts,
Hope, faith and love touch us, even in the deep parts.

We’re led to the Savior, who gives us new life,
Casts out all our fears, and calms down our strife.

We’re glad to be captured, and finally see,
That when Jesus takes over, we’re really set free!

“Three things last forever- faith, hope and love- and the greatest of these is love.”
– 1 Corinthians 13:13

Lord God Almighty, we give You all the glory for Your blessings and love. We pray for Your everlasting love, kindly help us to love one another in Christ Jesus’ name. Amen

After serving in the United States Navy for 22 years I retired from the service late in 1991. Having always loved the southwest, shortly after retiring, I moved to the Albuquerque area where I have resided since. Initially I worked as a contractor for approximately 6 years doing cable construction work. That becoming a little dangerous, at an elevated age, I moved into the retail store management environment managing convenience stores for roughly 16 years. With several disabilities, I am now fully retired and am getting more involved with helping Pastor Dewey & Pastor Paul with their operations at FGGAM which pleases my heart greatly as it truly is - "For God's Glory Alone". I met my precious wife Sandy here in Albuquerque and we have been extremely happily married for 18 years and I am the very proud father to Sandy's wonderful children, Tiana, our daughter, Ryan & Ross, our two sons, and proud grandparents to 5 wonderful grandchildren. We attend Christ Full Deliverance Ministries in Rio Rancho which is lead by Pastor's Marty & Paulette Cooper along with Elder Mable Lopez as regular members. Most of my time is now spent split between my family, my church & helping the Pastors by writing here on the FGGAM website and doing everything I can to support this fantastic ministry in the service of our Lord. Praise to GOD & GOD Bless to ALL! UPDATED 2021: Rick and Sandy moved to Florida a few years ago. We adore them and we pray for Rick as he misses Sandy so very, very much!
