Dear family of our Lord Jesus Christ and faithful Daily Cup readers,
We thank God for what HE is doing and working through this ministry and we thank you, our faithful readers and supporters of the ministry for taking part of what God is doing here at FGGAM.
Here lately the Lord has been calling me out to minister more and more. I’m not even a licensed or ordained minister. But that does not matter to God. I think I’m living proof He simply desires a willing vessel.
What I see with the people God has placed in my path is they need hope. Something to hold onto. And my friends, as believers in Jesus Christ, we have the hope they need!
These days we live in are darkened with so much negativity that it is instilling fear in believers as well as unbelievers. This is a prime time to be ready to share why we have hope.
Last week I received a call from a woman who took a five week Bible study I taught called Powerful and Effective Prayers. She did not attend my church, and I only knew her from the five sessions she attended this past February. When my phone rang, I did not recognize the number, but felt I needed to answer it. So I did.
She was distraught. She had been admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with metastatic cancer. She was told it had spread all over her body. She imagined the worst and believed she had a death sentence.
I dropped what I was doing at that moment and rushed over the hospital to see her. I had no idea what to say and I have never ministered to anyone in the hospital before, but asked the Lord to guide me. I shared with her my testimony about my recent melanoma diagnosis and how the Lord delivered me. I shared hope in Jesus Christ with her.
Though I’m not an elder in the church, we experienced a James 5 moment. As I shared with her, she confessed her sins. I laid hands on her and prayed. As I prayed, I saw the cancer disappearing like the venom came off of Spiderman in the Spider-man 3 movie (Marvel Comics, 2007).
I shared hope in Jesus Christ with her that He came and by His stripes she is healed. She received hope from the Word of God I shared with her that day.
I spoke hope into her life. We must speak life into other people. In order to speak life, we must speak God’s word into people.
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” Hebrews 4:12 (NIV).
God’s word is alive and active. His word changes people’s lives. She received God’s word. The next test results four days later showed that tumors that were in her stomach were gone! Gone my friends. Now we continue to pray that the tumor in her pelvic area be removed by the grace of God! To God be all the glory!
We must be ready to speak hope.
My friend is now encouraged and is seeing the hand of God move upon her life. She has the hope of Jesus Christ stirring up her faith.
Yesterday I read this Facebook post on my friend’s timeline:
“I thought I’d share this. A stranger prayed for me at the mall a few days ago while I was working. He said he sensed I had pain, like back pain or headaches (of which I have both). At first I thought oh my, what am I dealing with here but he was nothing but respectful and he prayed for me and shared some encouraging words and left. I have to be honest after he prayed for me nothing really changed. I have been having a continuous headache for months now that only really goes away when I sleep but is back as soon as I wake up in the morning. Now I think I know what may be causing them! I have been needing to refill a medication and had gone a few days without it in which I noticed I was headache free those days. I got my refill and the headaches are back. What a relief to find out the cause! Now I’m gonna talk to my doctor to see about switching my meds. I think its kinda cool how that happened! Don’t think its a coincidence. Thank you, Jesus!”
Did you catch that? She works at a store in the mall and a stranger went up to her and prayed with her! He was being sensitive to the move of the Holy Spirit. He did not make excuses for not doing it. He acted in faith and it brought my friend a resolution to why she had headaches.
Pray with people as the Spirit leads you.
My friends, we have hope in Jesus Christ. We need to spread hope with each other. When the idea pops into your head to call someone. Call them. Or make a note to call them later if you can’t call right then and be sure to follow through. It may make all the difference in someone’s life.
I know there have been days that I wished someone would call me because I need the encouragement. But the call never came, so I pressed into God more and more. Then days later, I would run into someone and she would say, “I thought about you the other day and started to call. But I didn’t because I figured you were busy.”
My friends, let’s stop making excuses. Let’s act on the prompting of the Holy Spirit! And if we miss the Spirit, it is still good to spread hope!
“Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying” (Romans 12:12 NLT).
With Christ, we can have confident hope and let’s spread that hope to others without delay. Let’s spread the hope of Christ like wildfire that can’t be contained.
Blessings to you all —
