Dear Family of our Lord Jesus Christ,
I come to you this morning to pray for a Dear Friends daughter who has been shot and is in critical condition in Los Angeles. That is all the information I want to release at this time, for the families privacy during this horrific time. Please pray over this request, God knows all! Can you even imagine if you got a call like this in the middle of the night that your child had been shot??!! My heart is broken. Let us be in constant prayer.
“Someone has said that the marks of a strong church are wet eyes, bent knees and a broken heart. We’ll never be powerful until we let God be God and jealously guard His honor.” Pastor Erwin Lutzer
Lord, I love the house where you live, the place where your glory dwells. Psalm 26:8
“The only thing that is going to save the soul of America is to get people into God’s house a house where God’s Word is preached and applied in everyday living.” Pastor Dewey
The Bible is very clear that we honor God by honoring His house.
God’s house is another term for the local church (1 Tim. 3:15) I love this term for the local church because it gives a picture of the family that we are part of when we become a believer. God is our Father, and when we come to church, we are coming into His house to get to know him and spend time with our spiritual family. We are nourished, refreshed and protected, just as we would be in a good home. Many in America are looking for a good home, just think only, on a good Sunday, 15% of America goes to church! You do not have to go overseas to be a missionary, there is much work to do here in America.
God’s house is important to Him.
No church is perfect, because the church is made up of imperfect people. We must start a discussion on this as America is losing it’s soul everyday. We are slip’ sliding along.
Despite the imperfections of the church, we can’t replace the powerful effects of living out the gospel in a community of people who share our commitment to God.
I love traveling to Reserve, New Mexico once a month to preach at the Baptist Church because those folks are on fire for our Lord and have no individual agenda, they just want to serve and worship or Lord.
We’re called to honor God’s house by doing more than just attending services or giving our finances; we need to make it a priority in our lives.
Thanks to John Siebeling in Momentum, whose writings contributed to this post.
If your having negative or ambivalent feelings toward your church or Pastor right now, please talk through your concerns with your Pastor, your small group, or a Christian friend, or get in contact with us here at FGGAM. I hear from way too many people that are having trouble in their church and will not talk to their own Pastor!
“We are taught, by past experience, that the more simply we depend upon the grace of God in Christ, and wait upon the Holy Spirit, the more we shall bring forth fruit unto God. Oh! to trust Jesus for fruit as well as for life.” Charles Spurgeon
