The Missouri grand jury charged with determining if there is sufficient evidence to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown has reached a decision.
Because of the national attention Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) and the county prosecutor’s office are expected to hold news conferences later Monday, and prosecutors have notified the family of Michael Brown — the young adult who was killed in the struggle with Officer Wilson — that the grand jury’s decision will be announced Monday night, family attorney Benjamin Crump said.
There was no indication as to what the grand jury decided. However, local and state governments are preparing for protests and the prospect of further lawlessness on the part of civilians coming from around the state and the nation.
The media and certain government officials like AG Eric Holder are fanning the tensions with talk of racism and justice. Very few are interested in a more serious discussion on the root causes of crime beyond the superficial blame game.
