When I was a little boy growing up in the 50’s and 60’s, I grew up respecting my God, my parents, grandpa and grandma, aunt and uncle’s, my pastor and Sunday school teachers, my teachers in public school, policeman, all adults in my hometown………I was raised in a town of about 4,000 people in Windom, Minnesota. When we were up town if we did not behave ourselves people would say, “Dwayne,(birth name) you better behave, do you want me to call your Dad?” That is what we called “Community Policing” back home! I had a Mom and Dad who taught me self-responsibility and the love of God. One of my Dad’s favorite saying’s to us kid’s was, “Clean up your own backyard before you try cleaning up someone else’s.”
It breaks my heart that our first granddaughter to be born in February is coming into a world that, as a whole, does not know “Self-Responsibility”.
