Over recent weeks, the Palestinian Authority has renewed its efforts in the international arena to gain recognition for a Palestinian state. But when their efforts at the United Nations Security Council were blocked, they decided instead to go to the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas signed the Rome Statute in a bid to join the court and then try to put Israeli soldiers on trial for alleged war crimes. Now the chief prosecutor at the Hague court quickly announced she has launched an initial probe into whether to bring war crimes charges against Israel. In turn, Israeli officials have sharply criticized the Palestinian move and also warned that Palestinians could be tried for war crimes there as well. So just how serious is the threat that Israel could be tried for war crimes in the International Criminal Court? Do the Palestinians have a strong case against Israeli military officers or political leaders? How vulnerable are the Palestinians to prosecution themselves? And could the Palestinian leadership really be after something else? Israel on Trial! That’s our focus this week here onFront Page Jerusalem. We’ll look at what is really behind the Palestinian Authority’s efforts to join the International Criminal Court in The Hague. We’ll have a report featuring the expert views of one of Israel’s leading international jurists, Prof. Robbie Sabel. He is a former legal counsel to Israel’s Foreign Ministry and recently shared his thoughts on what is at stake at the ICC.

We live in challenging times when everything around us is changing at incredible speeds. The breakthrough technologies of yesterday are quickly outdated by the new advances of today. Our moral standards are collapsing. And the threat of radical Islamic terrorism is spreading to every continent. Now all this makes it hard to avoid the sense that we are living in the end times. The Bible speaks of knowledge expanding, wrong becoming right, and of perilous times which would strike fear in the hearts of men. But knowing that we live in the end-of-days does not necessarily mean Christians know what to do in response. We need true leaders who can give the Church direction in the uncertain days ahead. So what are the signs that we are living in the end times? How important is it to have godly leaders for the Church today? And can we look to the Bible to find out how God used His servants to lead and guide ancient Israel? Leadership for Our Time! That’s our focus next week here on Front Page Jerusalem. We’ll have a teaching on the importance of finding Christian leaders in our day to help the Church see its way through perilous times, and especially as we seek to stand with Israel. Our featured speaker will be Dr. Juergen Buehler, the Executive Director of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem.
