FGGAM NEWS JUST RECEIVED THIS NEWS RELEASE: Make-A-Wish® New Mexico sends local wish kid to Phoenix for Super Bowl XLIX
Cesar Perez from Roswell, NM will join 11 other
wish kids in Phoenix for the big game

Albuquerque, NM (January 27, 2015) – In late January, Make-A-Wish® will send 12 passionate football fans with life-threatening medical conditions to sunny Phoenix, Ariz., for an unforgettable Super Bowl experience. Local wish kid, Cesar, a 16-year-old from Roswell who has lymphoblastic lymphoma will be among the group. He and his family will travel to the Phoenix metropolitan area for a weekend filled with football activities that will be capped off by attending the most anticipated football game of the year.
Cesar and his family will arrive in Phoenix on Thursday, Jan. 29. They will enjoy a welcome reception and a weekend comprised of visiting Super Bowl Central, the NFL Experience and other activities – including a private tour of the University of Phoenix Stadium – before they watch the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots battle for football supremacy in Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale, Ariz., on Sunday, Feb. 2. Cesar’s wish and all of the Super Bowl wishes are made possible through the generous support of the NFL and others.
“For Cesar and the other wish kids, the trip to Phoenix for the Super Bowl represents their most heartfelt wish coming true, which can have a profound impact,” said Jamie Schwebach, Director of Program of Make-A-Wish New Mexico. “These wishes have the ability to serve as a turning point for the wish kids, potentially influencing their ability to cope with, confront and overcome their medical challenges.”
Wishes to go to the Super Bowl started appearing almost immediately after the founding of Make-A-Wish, beginning with a 12-year-old Arizona boy attending Super Bowl XVI in Pontiac, Mich., in 1982 – the 9th wish in the organization’s history. Since then, every subsequent Super Bowl has been attended by at least one wish kid, and more than 130 Super Bowl wishes have been fulfilled in the last 10 years alone. Make-A-Wish New Mexico thanks the NFL for helping make these impactful wishes possible.
