New Mexico State Legislature 2015: What to Expect From Jose Vasquez, New Mexico Watchman
The New Mexico State Legislature has convened. The mood of the Sixth Annual Sanctity of Life Rally yesterday, as it wound through the snowy streets of Santa Fe, was one of confidence and optimism. Bills that limit New Mexico’s “shedding of innocent blood” will be debated and hopefully passed in 2015. Since New Mexican’s are required to pay for abortions through our tax dollars, ideas for bills limiting the carnage include the following; Notification of a minor’s parents prior to an abortion may also be sought. Setting limits on when an abortion could be performed may be proposed as no currently limits exist The absents of such limits has resulted in Albuquerque’s becoming the “late term abortion capitol of the southwest.” Two additional legislative measures are of interest. United States Attorney General Eric Holder, by his own decree, haslegalized the buying and selling of marijuana on each of New Mexico’s 19 pueblos and 3 reservations. Instead of questioning whether the state can tolerate additional intoxicants, Senate Joint Resolution 2: Use, Regulation, Sale & Tax of Marijuana, a Constitutional Amendment, proposes thedecriminalization of marijuana for persons twenty-one years of age or older. Also, the “openly gay” Senator Jacob Candelaria has proposed Senate Joint Memorial 1: LGBTQ Health Disparity Task Force. Homosexual “marriage” has always been just the starting point for services and “rights” demanded by this group. We were all lead to believe that homosexuality was just a different “lifestyle” and that two people who love each other should be allowed to “marry.” In reality homosexual behavior, for whatever reason, results in sexually transmitted diseases such as AIDS, alcoholism, substance abuse and suicide. With the success of the “marriage” effort we are now marching on to additional medical funding for the treatment of an already justified “lifestyle”. The need for staying in contact and praying for our legislatorshas never been more important. As the 52nd New Mexico Legislature convenes, pray for the very best for our state and may this be a year an exceptional year for those who put their trust in God.
