Some of you are aware that Deputy Martin left a wife and three children with another child due very soon. The following narrative is self-explanatory and comes from an Edgewood officer who worked with Deputy Martin. I hope you will read the narrative and peruse the flier and allow them it to move you toward a generous donation. Please know, any donation is a generous donation.
From Edgewood Police Officer David Lovato:
As you all know the majority of the Town of Edgewood is in Santa Fe County, therefore Edgewood Police Officers and Santa Fe County Deputies work hand in hand on a daily basis. SFSO Deputies are our back up when they work here, and we are theirs. In October of last year Deputy Jeremy Martin was tragically killed by a fellow Deputy, leaving behind his wife and three young children. All of us here at the PD knew Jeremy very well, he was a good Officer and a great man. He also loved Edgewood, and was actively looking to purchase a home here. Jeremy was the sole provider for his family and if his absence was not enough, his death is still under investigation to determine whether or not it will be declared as an “IN THE LINE OF DUTY” death. Therefore it is still unknown if Jeremy’s wife and three kids will receive any help from the SFSO Insurance.Several of Jeremy’s fellow Deputies and Friends have gathered together to try and help, they have set up a Fundraiser Dance this weekend (01-24-2015) at The Camel Rock Casino. There will be dinner and a dance and all proceeds will go to Jeremy’s Family. I have attached the flyer to this email with more information. SFSO Deputies asked if we would help spread the word. I will be selling tickets for the event from now until Friday, a minimum donation of $25.00 is asked per ticket. If you would like to make a donation and do not want to attend the dance any amount will be greatly appreciated. You can contact me by Department email dlovato@pd.edgewood-nm.gov or by cell phone 505-514-7016 (please leave a message I will get back to you). I will only be accepting donations until Friday 01-23-2015, if you would like to make a donation sometime after that you can online at www.gofundme.com/ggbwh4. Ticket sales have been very low so please donate if you can.THANK YOU ALL,PROUD OFFICER OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWOOD
DAVID LOVATO
