Syrian refugees being treated by Israel as casualties mount
Rambam Medical Center in Haifa recently treated a 23-year-old refugee from Syria’s civil war by giving him a new titanium jawbone to replace the one which was destroyed by a bullet during the fighting. The new metal jawbone was produced using a 3D printer and manufactured by Ashdod-based AB Dental. The surgery is just one example of the medical aid Israel is giving to refugees from Syria’s brutal and multi-faceted conflict, and it comes as a group of doctors from Syria told a conference in Paris on Monday that the catastrophic breakdown of healthcare systems in their home country is causing, among other things, the return of diseases long thought eradicated including polio tuberculosis, scabies and typhoid.
