Danish police (Illustrative)Police in Denmark engaged in a shootout Sunday with Danish-born man, identified by media sources as 22-year-old Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein, suspected of killing two people in two separate shooting attacks earlier in the day, one at a Copenhagen synagogue and another at a cafe where a Swedish cartoonist known for drawing depictions of the Moslem prophet was participating in a debate on free speech. Five others, including police officers, were wounded in the attacks. “We cannot yet say anything concrete about the motive… but are considering that he might have been inspired by the events in Paris some weeks ago,” said Danish intelligence chief Jens Madsen, who added that the suspect was known to police.
