Dear family of our Lord Jesus Christ and faithful Daily Cup readers,
Good Friday to you. Thank you for joining us here on the “Cup.” I’m Shonda Savage an inspirational writer at FGGAM.org and I’m filling in for Dewey today.
We thank God for what HE is doing and working through this ministry and we thank you, our faithful readers and supporters of the ministry for taking part of what God is doing here at FGGAM.
Let’s remember to keep Pastor Dewey in prayer as he will be preaching this weekend in Reserve, NM on REPENTANCE. Sadly, this is not a popular message. But if Jesus preached it, then so should we. Repentance brings reconciliation and restoration to our Father. Thank you Pastor Dewey for being faithful to preach the truth of the gospel.
Well this Saturday is Valentine’s Day. A day set aside to celebrate the people we love in our lives. There are a myriad of stories about how Valentine’s Day began. A Google search will lead you to many of those.
But what about love? There is a difference between the way the world loves and God’s love. Many of us know the love that is not of God is conditional. However, today let’s focus on how God loves.
God’s love is. . .
Unconditional and for everyone
Sincere
“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” (Romans 12:9)
Does no harm
“Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” (Romans 13:10)
Bears with one another
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:2)
Without Fear
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:18-19)
Selfless
“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)
Calming
“The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)
Accepting
“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
Steadfast
“But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.” (Psalm 86:15)
Inseparable
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
We pray that you experience the love of God in your life. If you have not, and want to have the love of God, please contact this ministry and someone will gladly show you how to receive the love of God through Jesus Christ our Savior.
There are lots more Scriptures on God’s love. What is your favorite? Be sure to share it with us in the comments.
Prayer notes from Pastor Dewey:
We have been praying for Michael, who has been in jail in Midland, Texas, his Mom Lucy let me know very early this morning that Michael was put on a bus this morning and she does not know where he is being transferred to. Can you imagine? Lucy says they will not be able to have contact with Michael for about a month. Can you imagine? Can you imagine the pain? I cannot! We pray for Michael, for Mom Lucy, and Dad, Pastor Ruben. Friends, please keep this family held up in your prayers. Lucy expressed to me her love for all of you!
Shonda Savage who served you the Daily CUP today wanted to share on the situation with Michael, Lucy and Pastor Ruben:
Thanks Dewey. Reading thru your prayer notes. Yes I know the pain Lucy feels.
I’ve had to let go and trust God. There is no other way to get thru it except to
roll with it and trust God’s promise He will never leave us or forsake us. My
heart aches for her but I can’t do this for her. I’ve already done this…each
time Stephen has been moved we lose contact for week or two at a time. There has
been a period of 7 months we did not get to talk or visit. Only snail mail. I
know and I have shared w/ Lucy. The pain is unknown for her now. But yes I know.
Praying for my precious sister in Christ. Shonda
God Bless you Shonda, Eldon, Chase and of course Stephen! We are in constant prayer for you all, Amen! We love you all more than you will ever know.
