Polls Show a Dead Heat in Israeli Elections

Herzog (Illustrative)The Knesset Channel released a poll Tuesday showing that the Likud Party of incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Zionist Union led by Isaac Herzog and Tzipi Livni are in a virtual tie three weeks ahead of elections with 24 seats apiece, with the Joint Arab List coming in third place at 13 seats. Those numbers were likely to fluctuate however following a press conference Herzog  gave Tuesday afternoon in which he declared that he would not travel to the upcoming conference of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in Washington to present a united front against Iran along with Netanyahu. “My staunch position against a nuclear Iran is known by all in Israel and America, including the US president,” Herzog wrote on Facebook. “I know how to make my opinion heard clearly and in a way that is influential from here or there.” Read More
