As U.S. officials scramble to suppress the pace of foreign fighters flocking to join extremists in Syria and Iraq, a national watchdog group is imploring the federal government not to overlook terrorist threats at home. The Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit organization that tracks hate activity, said in a report released Thursday that a terrorist attack or foiled encounter took place, on average, every 34 days in the U.S. from April 1, 2009, through Feb. 1, 2015.
