Former Israeli President Peres Endorses Herzog For Prime Minister

Peres (Israel GPO)Former president and longtime scion of the Left Shimon Peres endorsed Zionist Union leader Isaac Herzog to be the next Prime Minister of Israel on Thursday. “The Israeli democracy is approaching the day of choice. It is natural that people will have differing opinions and that they will vote according to their conscience. As for me, I support Issac Herzog to be prime minister,” Peres said, adding that he believed Herzog to be “a cool-headed leader who has maintained his honesty and is full of responsibility and dedication to the Israeli public.” Earlier on Thursday, Herzog gave an interview withArmy Radio, saying, among other things, that incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had “displayed severe panic and returned to the rhetoric of fear and threats in recent days.” Meanwhile, Christian leaders in Israel have requested prayers for the election ahead of next Tuesday’s polls.
