Harsh Reaction to Letter From U.S. Senators to Iranian Leadership

The letter sent to Iran’s leadership by 47 Republican Senators this week warning them that any agreement they sign regarding the Islamic Republic’s renegade nuclear program with the Obama Administration is not binding unless Congress agrees to it set of a firestorm of criticism from the clerical regime in Teheran and the Obama Administration on Monday. A White House spokesperson told reporters that it was tantamount to a “rush to war” while Vice President Joe Biden used much harsher language and Iran’s foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, posted a response to the letter on his Twitter account, calling it “a propaganda ploy” that was “unconventional” and “unprecedented in diplomatic history” adding a dig at Israel by saying “This indicates that like [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, who considers peace as an existential threat, some are opposed to any agreement, regardless of its content.” Read More
