Urgent:   Your Help Is Needed Right Now!“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” – Romans 12:21Indiana is Under an Unprecedented National Assault Based Upon Lies and Falsehoods.Governor Mike Pence understands the truth about the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Nevertheless, he is under an enormous national attack for signing a law that the US Congress passed unanimously in the House and nearly unanimously in the US Senate.  It is a law that President Obama voted for when it passed the Illinois state Senate unanimously.

Liberal states like Rhode Island and Connecticut have this law.  Economically booming business, convention and sports states like Florida, Texas and Tennessee also have this law.  In fact, as noted by this Washington Post article, of the 20 states with this law, and 30 states with this law’s principles as a part of their legal precedent, only Indiana has faced this kind of irrational fear and hostility.

The media’s lies on this are appalling. There is some talk of a legislative clarification statement  Yet, it seems obvious that neither the media, nor radical activists stirring up ths matter care about “clarification” on the law when they didn’t even read or consider the actual bill’s language before their launching their fear-based campaign against Indiana and this modest law.

Here is the heart of our law.  Is this anything at all like what the agitators and some misguided liberal business leaders and politicians claim?

Sec. 8. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), a governmental entity may not substantially burden a person’s exercise of religion even if the burden results from a rule of general applicability.(b)  A governmental entity may substantially burden a person’s exercise of religion only if the governmental entity demonstrates that application of the burden to the person:(1) is in furtherance of a compelling governmental interest; and (2) is the least restrictive means of furthering that compelling governmental interest.

This is all about protecting individual’s liberty from a government overreach.  That’s it!    I used to think nearly everyone supported individual liberty and freedom.   Now I really question that assumption.

Here is what I need you to do, right now.
Please call Governor Mike Pence and thank him for standing for religious liberty and freedom.   His office telephone number is 317-232-4567.
Later today, I will have another email action step for you.

But right now, this morning, please call our Governor’s office at this critical time and encourage him and his staff with your support at 317-232-4567.

Thank you,
Micah Clark
Executive Director
