US President Barack Obama, who refused to watch Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech before Congress on Tuesday, told reporters afterwards that “as far as I can tell, there was nothing new” in the speech, lamenting that Netanyahu “didn’t offer any viable alternatives,” to the plans Obama Administration officials are promoting during negotiations with Iran. Senior Democratic Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, who did attend the speech and appeared visibly angry for much of it, went much further in her criticism, declaring that it was “an insult to the intelligence of the United States” while many of her colleagues, who represent the people of the United States, warmly applauded the speech and thanked Netanyahu for giving it.
