Obamacare Of Foreign Policy
According to a Bloomberg report, the Obama Administration “has assessed for several years that Iran has been two to three months away from producing enough fissile material for a nuclear weapon.” But it only publicly acknowledged that crucial information a few weeks ago.
So, when President Obama learned that Iran was just a few months away from a potential nuclear breakout, he kept it from Congress, he kept it from the American people and he dismissed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as an alarmist.
Why would he do that? At the time, Obama was trying to stop Congress from passing tougher sanctions against Iran. Now that he is trying to push his nuclear deal with Tehran, he is using the short breakout time as justification for why we must have this bad deal.
This deal is the Obamacare of foreign policy, and it is being sold to us just like Obamacare was sold to us — on a foundation of half-truths and distortions. Worse yet, given the time frames involved, Iran may already have a nuclear weapon. The government’s track record of predicting when hostile regimes will go nuclear is abysmal. Obama’s talks have accomplished nothing except giving Tehran more time to run out the clock.
What irony. George W. Bush was accused of manipulating intelligence data to go to war with Iraq. Barack Obama may have manipulated intelligence data to enable Iran to develop a nuclear weapon.
Obama Ignores Christian Persecution
Barack Obama’s indifference to Christian persecution was on full display last week. Kudos to Kirsten Powers for pointing it out.
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi was in Washington Friday. At a press conference with President Obama, Renzi was asked about the 12 Christians who were thrown overboard by Muslims as they attempted to flee the chaos in Libya.
Renzi parroted the left’s talking points, saying, “The problem is not a problem of [a] clash of religions.” The prime minister was either oblivious or didn’t care that Italian prosecutors filed charges of “aggravated murder motivated by religious hate.”
Most telling was that Barack Obama just stood there and did not say one word about this heinous act of persecution. Writing in USA Today, Powers notes that Obama didn’t hesitate to jump in three months ago when a militant atheist killed Muslim students in North Carolina. He’s quick to chide “less-than-loving Christians” at Easter. He lectures Christians about the Crusades at the National Prayer Breakfast.
What about radical Islam’s jihad against Christianity taking place right now throughout the Middle East and Africa? Obama defends Islam. He tells us that the jihadists who murder in Allah’s name are not Muslims. And even when the White House issues statements condemning atrocities against Christians, it frequently neglects to mention their faith.
Here’s bottom line: President Barack Obama, the most powerful man on the planet, seemingly does not give a damn about the persecution of Christians.
Whether they are left-wing social gospel types or members of minority communities, it is time for Christians in America to speak out against the president’s cavalier attitude and unwillingness to do anything when Christians are killed because they are Christians.
Graham: Halt Muslim Immigration
In a Facebook post yesterday denouncing the beheadings of Ethiopian Christians, Reverend Franklin Graham warned that the danger of radical Islam was spreading. He also suggested that we should halt immigration from Muslim-majority nations “that have active terrorist cells.”
Before the left-wing pundits issue their knee-jerk “bigot” reactions, I can say without fear of contradiction that Franklin Graham has done more through Samaritan’s Purse to help families and children around the world than all of the commentators who might condemn him. He has also seen first-hand the atrocities radical Islam inflicts on people.
Graham has a point about our immigration system. There is no effort of any consequence to ensure that immigrants coming into the United States from predominantly Muslim nations believe in the central tenants of America. Unfortunately, polling shows that many Muslims condone violence against civilians and doubt Western values.
Why are we allowing in thousands of people who may not believe in freedom of religion or the values of the Constitution? How many are coming here with a deep-seated hatred of Christians and Jews?
This is not bigotry or xenophobia. Reports about people in the U.S. trying to join ISIS, trying to act on this hatred, are becoming common. A serious nation concerned about its security would be capable of making rational judgments about its immigration and refugee programs.
