The Islamic State (IS) terror militia has reportedly entered the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp in central Damascus and engaged armed Palestinian factions there, led by the so-called Aknaf Beit al-Maqdis group. “The Nusra Front opened the road for them in order to infiltrate the camp and several hours ago they entered Yarmouk,”said Anwar Raja, the spokesman for the pro-Assad Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command, which is also fighting IS in the camp. The raids are the deepest penetration IS has made so far into the Syrian capital, and came on the same day as Jordan closed its border with Jordan following the violent takeover of Nasib, the last remaining functional border crossing, by rebel forces including jihadists.
