Iranian Holocaust Cartoon Contest Underway

The Iranian government recently launched the Second International Holocaust Cartoon Contest which will feature 839 submissions from individuals in over 50 countries. The purpose of the competition is to display “artwork” which compares Israel to Nazi Germany and Israeli treatment of the Palestinians to Nazi treatment of the Jews of Europe during WWII. A contest official said that it would also serve to demonstrate what he described as a “double standard” in the West whereby cartoons making fun of Islam are allowed but topics such as the Nazi Holocaust are forbidden. The “artwork” is scheduled to be exhibited in Teheran for 12 days starting on 9 May. In related news, the simmering conflict on Iran’s southeastern border flared again on Tuesday when Sunni terror militias based in Pakistan killed eight Iranian border guards. Unconfirmed reports indicated that several of the attackers were also killed.
