Israel Among First to Respond to Nepal Emergency

IDF Home Front Command in action (IDF Photograph)Israel’s government acted quickly on Sunday to send aid teams to earthquake stricken Nepal, with reports of over a thousand dead and many more injured and homeless. Israeli aircraft were on their way to Khatmandu within hours of the quake, carrying rescue personnel, emergency equipment and supplies. On their way back to Israel these aircraft will carry people needing emergency hospitalization and stranded Israelis. President Reuven Rivlin said: “Our thoughts and hearts go out to the people of Nepal dealing with this awful disaster, and with our loved ones who are in distress. The State of Israel is reaching out to help the search and rescue of the many victims.”
