Where Are the Believing Believers? By Pastor Jerry McCullah
“We have heard the joyful sound: Jesus saves! Jesus saves!”
“O victory in Jesus, my Savior, forever, He sought me and bo’t me with His redeeming blood; He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him, He plunged me to victory, beneath the cleansing flood.”
“Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King; Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King; Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! We are going to see the King.”
We sing these or songs like them weekly in worship; though more often than not, weakly sung from not being truly convinced of their truths.
The biggest weakness in the American church is the vast numbers of unbelieving believers in the pews.
Church, what if the Bible were true? — Oh, I know it is. But, what if we lived as if we believed it was true? What if we prayed as though we believed it was true? The church spends more prayer time in maintenance prayer, than it does in world changing and soul-saving prayer.
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
Let me ask you, professing believer: Is Jesus enough for you? Really, is He?
What are you worried about? What are you seeking? What disappoints you?
Then, perhaps He is not enough for you.
“ Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:4-8)
