Let us pray over this situation: 14 Police Officers in the United States have been shot and killed in the line of duty since January. The most recent tragedy is the murder of Rio Rancho, New Mexico Police Officer Gregg “Nigel” Benner. Our Officers are under increased threat. Yes OUR Officers, they serve us, they protect us. Many are underpaid and overworked. Respect for Law Enforcement may be at an all-time low in the United States of America. Their job has changed so much over the years…..having hand grenades thrown at them, military type weaponry fired at them, a traffic stop is more dangerous than ever, etc. 14 Officers Killed since Jan. Everywhere I go now, whether it’s to the grocery store, Church, or travel outside Albuquerque, people say to me, “Albuquerque has become so violent” Yes, violent crime is up 14% in the Duke City.
