This past Saturday I was talking with a man who was born and raised in New Mexico, he is frustrated with New Mexico politics. Tom Tinnin has been outspoken over the years on the challenges New Mexico faces. He is tired like all of us of the state being first in everything bad and last in everything good. Tired of the dirty politics. Tom loves his home state, he has invested so much of his life into New Mexico. Look for him to be on our radio program soon. I have lived here since 1995 and I have never seen a state struggle so much with Education! I have lived in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Indiana, those states sure do not have the struggles with Education like New Mexico, I’ve just never seen anything like this, where the teachers, students, and taxpayers have all been thrown under the bus! I’ve never seen a city with so many Parents homeschooling their children, Charter Schools and Christian Schools in my life, a result of the mess at Albuquerque Schools! Both the Republicans and Democrats have made a mess of education in this state. Argue and argue, institute new programs and the state still finishes near the bottom and the drop out rate is high. Now comes this, more than three dozen Albuquerque teachers burnered their teacher evaluations in front of the Albuquerque Public School headquarters yesterday to protest what they call the inherent “unfairness” of the process. I have many friends that are teachers at APS, they have been hurt by this process. What does this say to the students? Let us pray for the end of politics in education! Let us pray for God to be allowed to be at the head of Public Education! Amen! More here: dlvr.it/9vNCtd
