Some things my Daddy taught me, Wally Moede of Windom, Minn., Husband, Father, Church Leader, School Transportation Director, Assistant Fire Chief, U.S. Marine Sgt. WWII, was to be consistent in my work and to keep my commitments. I thank the Lord for what my Daddy not only told me, but showed me. He showed it to me by how he lived his life. I remember my Dad never missing a day of work, except one when he had a very high fever and could not get out of bed. That shocked us kids, Daddy being sick! Daddy was consistent in all his work that the Lord assigned him, he also fulfilled all of his commitments. He would arise early at 4am and not return home till 6 or 7pm. When I think of my Dad’s life, I think of Jesus, who came to serve not to be served and to do the work assigned him by our Lord, and this from Mark Twain, “Live your life so that at your funeral, even the undertaker cries.” That certainly happened at my Daddy’s funeral. Pictured here is my Dad as he enlisted in the U.S. Marines at age 17 to enter WWII.
So the challenge I put out to all of us is to be consistent in all we do and to fulfill our commitments.
My Daddy taught me, No excuses, Son! Amen!
I am very humbled in our Lord to tell you that my Mom, Ruth Irene Moede, was the same as Daddy, in having the Character of Jesus Christ.
My life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus. Acts 20:42 which happens to be my life verse, what is yours?
Also Mark 10:45 teaches us………For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Ecclesiastes 9:10 says..Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.
1 Peter 3: 10-12……For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
