The Little Red Box
I wanted to share another story with you this morning. Several weeks ago now I was journeying North to be part of an ACTS retreat with my Catholic sisters, when I had realized the jacket to my suit that I would be wearing for the closing Mass had buttons that needed to be re-attached. I decided I would stop at Marden’s in Madawaska that Thursday morning to purchase a needle and thread. I hurriedly went in and saw a dear friend that is starting a television program to help prevent suicide. So we prayed together for the Lord to put this all together for His glory and to save lives in Aroostook County and Western, New Brunswick and around the globe. We prayed for many things really. Hope for the hopeless, families, etc. It seems prayer is springing up everywhere these days, even at the end of the household aisle.
I turned the corner and a pair of black shoes just the right size and heel, adorned with gold around the top drew for my attention and my $5.00. I quickly forgot the needle and thread and picked those shoes up and was on my way. I began to pray once again Lord order my footsteps according to your Word. Your Word says The footsteps of the righteous are ordered of the Lord (Psalm 37:23). Let it be so oh God, I whispered underneath my breath to Him.
Then around the next corner I saw another person I knew from Van Buren, Maine. His wife had been on my radio broadcast several times sharing the gospel and praying for the listeners. We talked about what the Lord is doing in our land with bringing people together with our common ground, the Word of God (Bible). We laughed and talked for a bit until I realized I was going to be late for my meeting and I had one more stop to give my grandson a hug and kiss. He agreed to give his wife a hug for me as she is a powerful woman of God and my life has been so blessed with their friendship for several years now. I had a few days to figure out the needle and thread dilemma anyway. Maybe I’d wear the suit without the buttons being attached as I’m learning not to sweat the small stuff and I decided to journey on.
I believe it was Saturday morning I was walking in the dining hall and there were three ladies sitting at a table. I inquired if any of them had a needle and thread with them. Oh yes one lady piped up I’ll go get that for you. She came back with a little red box with a needle and two small bobbins of thread. Can you guess the colors of that thread? Gold and black, the exact colors of my suit. I must admit my heart skipped a beat as I opened the little red box and saw the color of the thread. I thanked her and the Lord and continued to pray Lord order my footsteps.
Well, I have had several divine appointments since The Little Red Box at the Christian Life Center in Frenchville, Maine. Too many to write about this early morning. Today, let’s join our Faith for a few things before I end. First, that God himself would help us recognize the divine appointments that he gives us each and every day. That we would boldly share our Faith, and we will trust Him to order our footsteps. Together let’s Declare: We Believe in the Providential Plan of God and Believe His Word that states in Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.
Together, let’s journey on….Blessings to you….. Beautiful People…..
