Israel and Germany Celebrate 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin was in Berlin on Tuesday to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and Germany. During their meetings, German Chancellor Angela Merkel told Rivlin, among other things, that she does not believe an agreement with Iran regarding its renegade nuclear program is imminent, however desirable one might be, and reiterated Germany’s commitment to Israel’s safety and security. Rivlin’s visit and related events have garnered wide press coverage, giving Rivlin the opportunity to express the values of democracy, learning from history and hope for a better future that the Jewish State shares with European countries.
