Wally Moede served in World War II. Sgt. U.S. Marines. Enlisted at age 17.

Wally Moede Today I remember Memorial Days of the past……they seem to me to have been more patriotic, old fashion values, the parades, the firetrucks, flags on very light pole, people waving the flag, soldiers marching, people clapping, patriotic speeches,  going to the cemetery with Mom and Dad and putting flowers on the graves of loved ones, Dad, a fireman, would put flowers on all the graves of the fireman who had passed away, It seems to me to have been a simpler time in America, and I miss it.

I also remember my Daddy Wally Moede of Windom, Minn.  (pictured here) who fought in WWII as a 17 year old U.S. Marines and in six months became a SGT. Dad had 6 brothers also serve in WWII. Dad served in China and Pearl Harbor and was on a ship to invade Japan until President Truman order the A-Bomb’s to be dropped. President Truman by doing this saved so many lives lives, to me Truman and President Lincoln made the toughest decisions as Presidents.

I remember my best friend Roger Carey of Windom, Minnesota who was killed in his 6th month of duty in Vietnam. Roger had enlisted to serve our Country as a U.S. Marine like my Dad. Roger worked with my dad at the school. He would give rides on his little red honda.

Today I remember ……those who gave all………and good old fashion American values………Biblical values……..

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand

Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n-rescued land

Praise and Power that hath made and preserved us as a nation.

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,

And this be our motto: “In God our Trust.”

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

This poem was written by Francis Scott Key

Thank You Lord for keeping this nation safe and protecting us from harm. Call us back to YOU that we may live with YOU as our trust.

“He has put a new song in my mouth—–praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord” Psalm 40:30
