Frank Haley of KDAZ AM730 REPORTS: RIO RANCHO, NM: Rio Rancho plant employees are holding their breath for today what could be “Black Monday,” when Intel is rumored to announce layoffs.
Last week, The Oregonian obtained a leaked internal memo indicating cuts were coming–possibly across the board.
An Intel spokesman that the company doesn’t comment on rumors. He also said “our plans for the Rio Rancho Site have not changed.”
Intel announced in April it would cut its research and administrative budget by $300 million this year.
According to The Oregonian, the memo, which was sent to Intel managers, said the company will “prioritize investments, slow down hiring, and drive other efficiencies, including a performance-based involuntary separation package.”
The report says the memo did not say how many people would lose their jobs, but that cuts would start June 15, today, and run for a month.
The Intel plant in Rio Rancho has gone through several changes in recent months. The plant saw a 400-person reduction in 2013, and in April of this year, Rio Rancho plant site manager Kirby Jefferson announced his retirement.
Pastor Dewey Note: I have a dear friend that works at Intel, we p[ray for all employees!
