Iran Chalks Up Several Victories in Confrontation With The West

Diplomats from the US and France “expressed concern” this week over recent comments made by Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei which analysts said amounted to a wholesale rejection of much of what Western diplomats thought had already been settled in negotiations over Iran’s renegade nuclear program. Meanwhile, reports emerged this week that several large Western energy firms, have already entered into discussions with Iranian officials about re-entering the Iranian market following the possible lifting of sanctions. Finally, Seyed Hossein Mousavian, a scholar at Princeton University and a long-time apologist for the clerical regime in Iran, was recently an invited speaker at the US Army War College in Pennsylvania. His presentation, beginning with a list of “20 reasons Iran can’t trust the US” and including comments blaming Israel for refusing offers of reconciliation by Iran’s current government, was received with strong applause by the audience of US military officers.
