Israeli Military Ambulance Attacked By Druze Residents

IDF Medical crews in action (IDF Spokesperson's Office photograph)Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu led a chorus of condemnation Monday following an attack on an IDF ambulance by Druze residents of the village of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights. A wounded Syrian who was being transported in the ambulance and who the Druze villagers apparently believed was a fighter for a jihadist group opposed to the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad, was killed in the attack. Another wounded Syrian was badly hurt by the mob, and the ambulance driver and another soldier were lightly injured. “Nobody can take the law into their own hands, and nobody can disrupt the missions of IDF soldiers,” Netanyahu declared. His remarks were echoed by several other senior officials as well as an IDF officer on the scene, who said “I must stress that the rumors circulating about us providing assistance to the Nusra Front are not true.
