ALBUQUERQUE – – Two people are dead and seven   badly injured after a suspected drunken driver smashed into an SUV early Sunday morning as he fled from deputies following a hit-and-run accident.

BCSO deputies  said the SUV contained seven children and two adults.

 

Deputies arrested Steven V. Trujillo, 36, and   booked him  into jail on two counts of vehicular homicide and seven counts of great bodily harm by vehicle. His bond is set at $250,000 cash only.

Trujillo has twice been convicted of drunken driving, in 2008 and again in 2012, and has been convicted of domestic violence and other crimes as far back as 1999.  He is also facing trial on rape, domestic violence and other charges early next year.   The accident happened after the truck ran the red light while heading north on Del Rio at the Rio Bravo intersection,

Seven of the 9 in the SUV  were ejected from the vehicle. Two of the occupants died  at the scene, and the other seven    were sent to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries,   None of the passengers in the SUV was   wearing seatbelts.

ALBUQUERQUE – – Albuquerque police are investigating a high-speed homicide that occurred early Saturday morning and left a motorcyclist dead from gunshot wounds.

Witnesses saw a blue truck chasing a motorcycle west on Central Avenue at Princeton. The   vehicles were traveling at high speeds and   the truck’s driver was holding a gun out the window and shooting at the motorcyclist.

Police said   minutes later, the motorcyclist stopped and fell over near Presbyterian Hospital. One of the truck’s occupants   got out of the truck, got on the motorcycle and drove away along with the truck.

The male motorcyclist  was rushed into the hospital where he died from gunshot wounds.  His name has not been release,  police are looking for the truck and the gunman.

ALBUQUERQUE – – The father of one of the teens accused of gunning down an Albuquerque man in his driveway says he is sorry for the victim’s family but his son “is not an animal.”   Albuquerque   police reports show that 4 of the 6 teenage boys charged in the killing of 60-year-old Steve Gerecke came from troubled homes with parents who had run-ins with the law too.

ALBUQUERQUE – – Police say a motorcyclist has died after hitting a median on an Albuquerque road.

The unidentified cyclist was riding late Saturday night on Taylor Ranch Road when he crashed his motorcycle into the center median.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he  later   dead.

The biker was wearing a helmet.

RIO RANCHO —  A 16-year-old girl who was the subject of a nationwide Amber Alert has been found safe in Indianapolis, Ind.

Rio Rancho police say Andrea Lucero was initially identified as a “missing, endangered person”    until Saturday evening when investigators got information that made them believe Lucero had been abducted by force by Joe Medina, 37.

Then investigators issued an Amber Alert

Medina is in custody with Indiana state police  and Lucero is not injured.
