Islamic State Steps Up Operations Near Borders of Israel

The Islamic State (IS) terror militia claimed responsibility on Saturday for a car bomb attack against the Italian Consulate in the Egyptian capital of Cairo. The attack killed one individual, wounded several others and caused extensive damage to the building. A statement was posted to a jihadist website declaring that IS advises “that Muslims stay clear of these security dens because they are legitimate targets for the mujahedeen’s strikes.” Italy’s Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said that no Italian citizens were killed or wounded in the attack, adding “Italy will not be intimidated.” Egyptian  officials also condemned the blast, urging the world to unite against the threat from IS and similar groups.
