NATO Calls Emergency Meeting Over Islamic State Threat

    A major pipeline carrying natural gas from Iran into Turkey was hit by an attack inside Turkish territory overnight Monday, with Turkish officials blaming the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). It was the latest in a string of violent incidents which have in recent days re-ignited the conflict between Ankara and the PKK, also highlighted by a Turkish air campaign launched last week against PKK positions in Syrian and Iraqi territory, along with strikes against positions of the Islamic State (IS) terror militia. Turkey and the US announced this week that they were working on setting up a “safe-zone” in northern Syria, chasing out IS and other armed factions as well as providing a “no fly zone” to protect civilians in the area against forces loyal to the Assad regime.Read More
