Oregon, the once beautiful state that flies with it’s own wings (the state motto). I think Obi Wan Kenobi said it best when describing Mos Eisley spaceport, “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.”
The “beaver state” has been taking point on the godless progressive agenda for some time now, eclipsing even California as the chief liberal state. Oregon was the first state to allow doctor assisted suicide and has been using it’s bureaucratic agencies to advance sexual immorality and silence Christian opposition.
It was Oregon, using the Bureau of Labor and Industries, that was kind enough to fine Aaron and Melissa Klein $135,000 for failing tow the line and make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple. The charge was discrimination for sexual orientation, even though they had served the very same people several times before. The commissioner of the bureau, Brad Avakian, also believes he has the authority to tell the Christian couple that they could not exercise their first amendment right to say that marriage is between a man and a woman.
That is why it is of little true surprise to discover that another Oregon bureaucratic agency has declared that minor children will be allowed to have a sex change and that tax payer money will be made available to have such surgery all without parental consent.
According to Fox News, the governor appointed Health Evidence Review Commission (HERC) changed the policy last year and it went into effect in January of 2015 to allow 15 year old children to be mutilated without notifying their parents.
Let me repeat that for dramatic effect. 15 year old children, who by state law cannot smoke, drink or even get a tattoo will be allowed to undergo dangerous hormone treatments and irreversible surgeries to remove body parts that can not be returned when the kid changes his or her mind next year, all paid for by Medicaid and without parental notification.
Proponents of such depraved indifference to the life of a child argue that this would prevent suicides and that much counseling would happen before they could have the life altering surgery. The counseling is required by insurance companies that can change their policy at anytime and we are learning that suicide rates actually increase after so-called gender reassignment is complete.
What should be clear to all believers in Christ is that the enemy will never stop. The evil does not subside once they have won the victory they claim they want. They will not be satisfied until God and His followers have been silenced and driven from society and forced to apologize for every trying to bring reason and morality to people.
